Roxas Moot Court Room

The Roxas Moot Court Room was renovated in 2007 by The Gerry Roxas Foundation and the Roxas Family in honor of President Manuel A. Roxas of UP Law Class of 1913 and Senator Gerry Roxas of UP Law Class of 1949.

The Roxas Moot Court Room is being used by our several teams competing in several internation competitions such as:

(a) the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (“Jessup”);

(b) Stetson International Law Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (“Stetson”);

(c) Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition (“Asia Cup”);

(d) Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court;

(e) IBA ICC Moot Court Competition;

(f) Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition; and 

(g) Jean-Pictet Competition on International Humanitarian Law.

UP Law started participating in the Jessup Competition in 1975 through the efforts of then student Prof Concepcion Jardeleza ‘74 who of course went on to become College Secretary.

UP Law has always achieved success in the competition, receiving recognition as Best Oralist or Best Memorial. Among those that were recognized as among the top oralists in the Jessup competition were members of Batch 2001 Mona Katigbak and Prof. Rommel Casis.

UP Law has won the Jessup World Championship twice in 1995 and 2024.

UP Law won the Jessup Philippine National Round many times, including a winning streak of six straight years from 2018 to 2023.

Other than winning the Jessup competition, UP Law also has a winning tradition in the other moot court competitions. UP Law has won the Stetson Championships in 2018 and 2024.
