Faculty Lounge

The Faculty Lounge was renovated in 2002 by Atty. Pelagio T. Recalde ’77 in honor of Prof. Juliana R. Ricalde ’79. Prof Julie was a tax professor and a mentor to many law students before her untimely demise in 1999.

This room contains the paintings of UP Law Deans up to Dean Danilo Concepcion ‘83. There are now 3 deans whose portraits have not yet commissioned for display in this room.

Most of the early paintings were done by Araceli Limcaco Dans of the UP Fine Arts, who was a student of Fernando Amorsolo.

The deans of the 1990s were painted by Lucy Fernando. Very notable is the painting of Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen ‘87 who is in a relaxed pose in a familiar room – the moot court which we have just seen. His painting was made by Janice Luison-Young of UP College of Fine Arts, Batch 1986 (valedictorian and cum laude)

This room has on display group photos of the faculty which also shows the appearance of this room prior to renovation. It may look familiar because it used to be where the LAE interview was held in the 1990s.
